Define Area of Interest
To define a new area of interest, use the search function at the top left of the page to search for the general area. This search can use several criteria:
- Name of town
- Address
- Postcode
- Latitude and Longitude
The map will then centre on that location.
The area of interest can be further defined in 4 different ways, using the icons displayed at the top of the page.
- The hand tool is used to pan the map page. The mouse wheel can be used to zoom in and out. This can also be done using the navigation tools at the bottom right of the page.
- The square tool is used to define a square or rectangular area of interest by dragging the shape out on the map screen, starting from a corner.
- The circle tool is used to define a circular area of interest by dragging the shape out on the map screen, starting with the central point on the circle and then dragging out the radius of the circle.
- The points tool is used to define a polygonal or irregularly shaped area of interest. This is defined by clicking a series of points to define the outer edge of the area of interest and then returning to click on the first point. For best results this should be a solid shape.
- The input button allows for area of interest to be defined more precisely, using coordinates or GeoJSON.
- Coordinates are defined using the latitude and longitude of the centre point and the radius of the area of interest, resulting in a circular area of interest.
- Valid GeoJSON is supported.
- Once you have input one of these options, click Done to refine the area of interest.
- The save button allows you to save the defined area of interest for future use. Each Area of Interest must have valid coordinates along with a name and brief description of the area.
